More Odds and Ends
"Whether Vane???"
This is one of the pieces I'm exhibiting during the Beauty from the Ashes Exhibition at 9 Mile Gallery, Edina. It features a school bus made out of black pencils that has been turned into a hearse. The next feature is an AR-15ish machine gun made from actual gun parts and Nerf guns. The final element is that both are perched on top of a weather vane. The title is a play on words regarding the vanity of some of these school shooters may play a role in their obsessions with this gun and the great carnage it produces. Whether they will act out their violent fantasies feels almost as if they are at the whims of 'which way the wind blows'. It also alludes to the randomness in the communities across the country that are attacked and tragically affected.
