These are sculptures based on the combination of World War I, World War II and modern (Gulf/Iraq Wars) military tanks combined with wooden shoes. My patriarchal ancestry is Dutch/German and I thought the humbleness of wooden shoes would be an apt metaphor for the average soldiers operating these tanks. The form also lends itself well to the shapes of the tanks.
